I've decided that I love toddlers! Yes, their tantrums are frustrating. But much less frustrating than 2 year old or 5 year old tantrums! And they still have some baby cuteness while sleeping through the night. They can feed themselves but have that fascinating, endearing beginning language development going on. They find pleasure in simple things and are happy to putter around a room full of toys. They are learning to give and ask for affection, which is so so cute!
And Daniel is still a pretty happy guy. We have been dealing with some chronic crankiness after nap time though. I remember Claire going through the same thing around the same age. Hopefully it will pass soon.
Language:

Motor:
He's almost proficient at walking on even surfaces, can step down onto our deck, has figured out how to maneuver the 2 steps at my parents (he sits down and scoots down them facing forward), can now pull himself onto the kitchen chairs, can do the stairs at the neighborhood playground independently.
Sleep:
Sleeps about 8/8:30 to 7/7:30. One afternoon nap for an hour or two if we are at home. But if we are in the car mid morning he may fall asleep. And if he sleeps for more than 30 minutes he's done for the day!
Health/physical:
Teeth- He's had a tooth explosion! Now he has 7 out of 8 front teeth and his first 4 molars. Still waiting for that bottom right tooth to come in.
He's is 18 or 18-24 month clothing and wearing a size 5 wide shoe. Diapers are a size 4. He weighed 26 lbs, 6 oz at his doctor appointment at the end of the month. Which is about a pound less than Ellie. And he's 32 inches tall.
He's currently on another round of ear infection turned into eye infection. I'm not positive but I think we dealt with this in December, January, March and now April.
Emotions:
He is definitely making his emotions known more and more. If he is frustrated he will start fussing and walking backwards. Then he'll do a hopping, stomping feet deal. It's kind of cute when it's not frustrating! He will also toss things off his tray or table in the heat of anger.
When asked if he needs a new diaper, he will sometimes happily head to our changing spot and flop down on the mat grinning. The rest of the time he fights tooth and nail.
He both seeks out hugs and kisses and gives them! It's the sweetest thing. I'll be holding him and suddenly he leans in for a snuggle or presses his forehead to my face for a kiss. Sometimes he likes multiple kisses in a row! Or he'll put his little arms on my shoulders like he's hugging me!
He's a slightly less of a mama's boy these days. There are now times when he definitely prefers Daddy. He's also getting a little better at separating when I take him to child care at the gym.
