We had a bit of snow here in Atlanta this winter. On January 28th we got a bit more than forecasted, creating a huge traffic jam all around the city. Fortunately the girls and I were all tucked in at home. Jeff did have to go in to work that day and had an adventure getting home but he made it with no major issues. Ellie got to experience snow for the first time and Claire got to experience hot chocolate for the first time! Love at first sip!

And then two weeks later we did it all again! More ice this time, wnhich is harder to deal with. We have so little resources to deal with snow and ice that it shuts things down pretty easily. And makes people panic and clear out the store of bread and milk! Again we were all tucked in at home. Jeff was supposed to go in to work on one of the bad days, but then was told he wasn't needed since they were reducing staffing. I think we were all happy with that!

6 months old

Ellie turned 6 months old on January 26th.

She really perfected her army crawl, which she just started at the end of 5 months. This allowed her to make a beeline for any and all electrical cords and tiny choking hazards lurking on the floor. She's trying to figure out crawling. She does this downward dog move that is hilarious. She also figured out sitting this month too. It's hard to pinpoint an exact time frame for that skill. One, because she much preferred to be moving than sitting! And two, because she progressed to be able to sit from a few seconds 10 seconds to 30 seconds to 60 seconds, etc, etc. And at what point do you call it true sitting? But however you define it, she does it now.

And she also started crawling! Sort of. She did a few "crawls" on Valentine's day but then only sporadically here and there until Claire's birthday on the 24th.

Her sleep routine is 2 or 3 naps a day and bed by 7:45. She's fallen into an annoying habit of waking up early in the morning (4,5,6) to play for 20-30 minutes before going back to sleep. And sometimes it's difficult to get her back to sleep. But I know she is not ready to be up for the day at 5!

,She just keeps growing. At her 6 month, 19 day checkup she weighed 15 lbs, 5 oz. and was 26.75 inches long. Still long and lean as far as percentiles go. It's time to move from 3-6/6 month clothing into the 6-9 and 9 month stuff. She's in size 2's for diapers.

We are slowly increasing the variety of foods she gets. She getting both purees and finger foods. New items this month were baby oatmeal, peach puree, mango puree, and zucchini.

Ellie experienced her first snow this month as well as her first ride on a swing. These moments are included in the pictures below.
